U.S. Senator Ben Sasse, a member of the Senate Budget Committee and graduate of Mrs. Daake's 3rd grade math class at Trinity Lutheran, released the following statement after reports show that President Biden will propose a $6,000,000,000,000 budget later this week.

"None of these numbers add up -- six trillion dollars is insane. Who fell out of Willie Nelson's tour bus and wrote this thing? The President is scribbling out IOUs faster than a paper mill. We haven't spent this much since the Second World War -- and for good reason: This level of government spending harms the next generation's competitiveness, crowds out non-government activity, and spawns inflation that hurts working families right as we're near the end of the pandemic."
