Detroit, MI - Today, U.S. Representative Brenda L. Lawrence (MI-14) secured seven transportation and infrastructure projects for Michigan's 14th District in the INVEST in America Act. This is a five-year, $547 billion surface transportation bill that allocates federal investments for roads, bridges, transit, and more. The seven projects total over $16.2 million in federal funding for Southfield, Farmington Hills, Sylvan Lake, West Bloomfield, Bloomfield Township, Hamtramck, Pontiac, and the City of Detroit.

"Our infrastructure is badly in need of repair, and the INVEST in America Act couldn't have come at a better time. I'm proud to have secured seven projects in this comprehensive bill to fix, strengthen, and invest in our infrastructure here at home," said Rep. Lawrence. "These significant investments help create jobs and lay the groundwork to revitalize our communities. Today and every day, I'll continue to fight for the 14th District to ensure we get the resources we need and deserve."

The seven projects secured by Rep. Lawrence are "Member Designated Projects," an initiative allowing Members of Congress to identify direct funding for projects in their respective districts. The projects were reinstituted with guardrails to ensure transparency and ethics. The projects selected improve the infrastructure, climate change resilience, and livelihood of constituents in the 14th District.

The INVEST in American Act is expected to be considered by the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure this week. More information on the bill is available here.
