Congressman Lamborn Visits Springs Rescue Mission, Honors Larry Yonker with Congressional Record

This week, Congressman Doug Lamborn visited Springs Rescue Mission. This non-profit organization provides critically needed food, shelter, clothing, and services to our neighbors experiencing homelessness, poverty, and addiction. Springs Rescue Mission is an excellent example of government, business, and faith-based entities collaborating to solve community problems. Maj. Gen. (Ret.) Jack Briggs, President and CEO of Springs Rescue Mission, and staff met with Congressman Lamborn to discuss challenges they face and solutions they find for those most in need.

"The Springs Rescue Mission provides an essential service to those most in need in the Pikes Peak region," said Congressman Doug Lamborn. "Their mission of "meeting people where they are' means no one is left behind, and everyone receives the opportunity to get back on their feet. I am grateful to the staff and volunteers at Springs Rescue Mission for their faithful service to our community and the hope and compassion they provide."

"Springs Rescue hosted Congressman Lamborn this week," said Maj. Gen (Ret.) Jack Briggs. "The Congressman to the opportunity to recognize our previous CEO, Larry Yonker's long term contribution to those in need. It was a special moment for us all to celebrate. Additionally, we were able to show the Congressman how important community cooperation can be in addressing the hard issues of homelessness, addiction, and poverty."

During the visit, Congressman Lamborn honored Larry Yonker, in his retirement from Springs Rescue Mission, after decades of service. Congressman Lamborn presented Larry with a Congressional Record, recognizing his vision for a Community of Hope for the most vulnerable men and women of Colorado Springs and his steadfast faith in God.
