Toomey Statement Regarding Infrastructure Meeting with President Biden

Statement

Date: May 13, 2021
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Senator Pat Toomey (R-Pa.) released the following statement after he and a group of his Republican colleagues met with President Biden in the Oval Office:

"Today's meeting with President Biden on a potential bipartisan infrastructure package was productive. Congress and the Biden administration can come together and enact a bipartisan bill that responsibly boosts federal support for our roads, bridges, ports, and airports. However, the tough work on agreeing to a total price tag and how to pay for such a package remains. I am opposed to any effort to undo the 2017 tax law -- which helped give us the best economy of my life. Nonetheless, if all sides are willing to negotiate in good faith, an agreement can be struck."
