Aguilar Announces $26.1 Million in American Rescue Plan Funding for Inland Empire Public Transit

Rep. Pete Aguilar announced that the San Bernardino County Transportation Authority (SBCTA) has received $26.1 million in federal funding from the US Department of Transportation. The funding comes from the American Rescue Plan, landmark legislation led by President Biden and passed by Rep. Aguilar and Congressional Democrats. It will help establish the West Valley Connector project, which will utilize a fleet of zero-emission buses and 21 new bus stations to establish new public transit routes to key San Bernardino County destinations including Victoria Gardens and Ontario International Airport.

"I helped pass the American Rescue Plan because it gives communities like ours the tools we need to get our economy moving again, create good-paying jobs and come out of this crisis stronger than ever. I'm proud to have played a role in securing this funding for the Inland Empire, and I'll continue working to expand zero-emissions transportation options to reduce smog and traffic and better connect our communities," said Aguilar.

Rep. Aguilar serves on the House Appropriations Committee, the committee responsible for allocating funding for federal agencies and programs.
