Congresswoman Jaime Herrera Beutler (WA-03) last week reintroduced legislation to help increase affordable housing in Southwest Washington and across the country.

"Southwest Washington has been facing a homelessness and housing crisis for years, and COVID has significantly magnified the need for housing solutions across our communities," Herrera Beutler said. "Creating more suitable living options is a top priority, which is why I'm once again leading this bipartisan legislation that removes barriers to affordable housing in Southwest Washington."

Under this bill, local governments applying for federal housing development funds through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program would be required to report whether they have enacted policies to reduce counterproductive regulations that may affect affordability.
