Hudson Releases Statement on California Assault Weapons Ban Ruling

Statement

Date: June 7, 2021
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (NC-08) released the following statement on a U.S. District Court ruling against California's long-time ban on assault weapons:

"This ruling is a huge win for the Constitution and individual liberty. Building on the Supreme Court case DC v Heller, this ruling has the potential to strengthen and expand Second Amendment rights," said Rep. Hudson. "As the nonpartisan CBO revealed, assault weapons bans have no impact on gun violence; in fact murder rates increased 19% during the federal ban. As I look forward to this case proceeding, this ruling also underscores the need for legislation to codify our rights such as my H.R. 38, the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act."
