Harder Announces New Program Saving Folks $50 a Month on Internet Service & $100 on a New Device

Today, Representative Josh Harder announced the launch of the Emergency Broadband Benefit (EBB) Program and urged Central Valley families to enroll so that they can get $50 off their monthly internet bill and for eligible households, a one-time $100 discount off a new laptop, tablet, or desktop computer. Interested families should go to getemergencybroadband.org to apply.

"Whether you need to get online for school, work, or a virtual health care visit, it's absolutely essential you have access to reliable and affordable internet," said Rep. Harder. "I've heard from so many Central Valley families struggling to pay their bills right now, and I hope everyone in our community takes advantage of this brand-new program. $50 a month is $600 a year that quickly adds up, and I'm proud to help pass this new round of help into law."

The Emergency Broadband Benefit Program is a groundbreaking new program that will help economically vulnerable Americans afford their monthly internet bill. Rep Harder voted to pass the program in December and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) announced that open enrollment in the program has now begun. The EBB Program will provide struggling families a discount of $50 off the monthly cost of home internet service. It can also provide an additional subsidy of $100 for a computer. Internet providers who participate in the program can apply to the FCC for reimbursement.

Central Valley families interested in learning whether they qualify are encouraged to visit the FCC's new enrollment website -- https://getemergencybroadband.org/ -- and then sign up for the program through their internet service provider.
