Location: Washington, DC

Today, Congressman Filemon Vela (TX-34) announced that the Small Business Administration (SBA) will begin accepting applications for its $28.6 billion restaurant relief program, which was signed into law as part of President Biden's $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan. Registration for the SBA application portal will begin tomorrow, Friday, April 30 at 9:00 am CT. In preparation for the grant program's opening, the SBA released detailed guidance for those seeking relief money through the Restaurant Revitalization Fund.

"The American Rescue Plan created the Restaurant Revitalization Fund, a $28.6 billion grant program, to deliver targeted relief swiftly and efficiently to the millions of small business owners and workers in restaurants and other related establishments that are among those hardest hit by the COVID-19 pandemic," said Congressman Vela. "The Restaurant Revitalization Fund program has been designed to ensure this relief is delivered with a focus on equity. America's small businesses are the engine of our economy, and I am committed to ensuring our community's entrepreneurs have the tools they need to bring businesses back, create jobs and grow our economy."

For the first 21 days that the program is open, the SBA will prioritize funding applications from businesses owned by women, veterans, and socially and economically disadvantaged individuals. All eligible applicants are encouraged to submit applications as soon as the portal opens. Following the first 21 days, all eligible applications will be funded on a first-come, first-served basis.
