Rep. Williams Bill Makes Energy Efficiency Tax Credit Permanent

Press Release

Date: May 18, 2021
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Taxes Energy

Representative Roger Williams (TX-25) introduced the Incentivize Residential Energy Efficiency Act which would make permanent the 25C tax credit for homeowner energy efficiency improvements.

"Making the 25C tax credit permanent is one of my priorities this session, and the Incentivize Residential Energy Efficiency Act will do just that," said Congressman Williams. "This bill will finally make permanent a credit rate for 10% of eligible expenses up to $500. Residential homeowners can utilize the tax credit to make an investment in their home, from installing energy efficient appliances like HVAC systems and water heaters, to upgraded lighting fixtures and doors. Such improvements not only stimulate the economy, but reduce a home's electricity footprint and utility bills.

I will continue to support tax policies that increase economic participation while putting the best interests of the consumer at the forefront. Skilled technicians across the country are ready to respond to consumer demands, but Congress must act to ensure the temporary extension of this tax credit does not lapse this year, threatening to stagnate energy efficiency investments."
