Location: Washington, DC

WASHINGTON D.C. -- Today, Congressman Steven Horsford released the following statement on his appointment to the House Armed Services Committee:

"I'm excited and honored to announce my appointment to the House Armed Services Committee. Nevada's Fourth District is home to four military installations that play a critical role in our national defense, and I am proud to count thousands of servicemembers and military families as my constituents. This appointment will create new opportunities for my office to advocate for military families and veterans and push for the high-quality health care, education, child care, and additional support they deserve.

"As a member of the House Armed Services Committee, I will work with every member of Congress to ensure that all voices are heard in our national defense. I look forward to delivering for Nevada's Fourth District and the families at Nellis Air Force Base, Creech Air Force Base, Nevada Test and Training Range, and Hawthorne Army Depot."

The House Armed Services Committee is responsible for funding and oversight of the Department of Defense and the defense-related operations of the Department of Energy. With this appointment, Congressman Horsford now serves on three committees, including the House Armed Services Committee, the House Ways and Means Committee, and the House Budget Committee.

As part of his request for a Committee waiver to serve on the House Armed Services Committee, Congressman Horsford prepared a video highlighting the military installations in his district. The video can be viewed here.
