Thompson, Connolly Introduce Resolution Keeping The POW/MIA Promise

Today, U.S. Representative Glenn "GT" Thompson (R-PA) and Gerry Connolly (D-VA) introduced a bipartisan resolution ensuring the commitment to the research and recovery efforts of our nation's missing service members.

"As the father of a wounded warrior and Purple Heart recipient, I am thankful every day that my son returned home safely," said Congressman Thompson. "Not every family has been as lucky, and we owe our greatest efforts to recovering the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. As we develop trade ties in regions where service members once engaged in combat, we must make every effort to ensure these countries are active participants in aiding in the recovery of our fallen soldiers."

"We have a sacred compact with the men and women who serve our nation in uniform. They make untold sacrifices on behalf of the safety and security of the United States, and we vow to support them and their families in every way that we can," Congressman Connolly said. "When a service member makes the ultimate sacrifice, it is our duty to ensure they are returned home to their loved ones. This measure would improve collaboration with foreign countries on the recovery of our fallen heroes who have not yet made it home."

According to the Department of Defense, more than 80,000 American citizens who served in World War II, the Vietnam War, the Korean War, the Cold War, and the Gulf Wars are still missing in action.
