Luetkemeyer on Governor Parson's Action to Strengthen Missouri's Workforce

Statement

Date: May 12, 2021
Location: Washington, DC

Today, Congressman Blaine Luetkemeyer (MO-03) released the following statement regarding Governor Mike Parson's announcement that Missouri will no longer be participating in federal pandemic-related unemployment benefits.

"Congress passed emergency coronavirus relief to get the many Americans facing unemployment through the pandemic until jobs were once again available. We are well-passed that point. Missouri continues to lead the nation in economic recovery, and there are now more job openings than workers to fill them. Rather than incentivizing people to stay home, government should be getting out of the way and allowing workers and businesses thrive. I'm proud that Missouri is taking this important step in economic recovery and grateful to Governor Parson for his leadership."
