Press Release

Date: April 27, 2021
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman Brett Guthrie (KY-02), Republican Leader of the Energy and Commerce Committee's Health Subcommittee, has been selected by House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) to lead the Healthy Future Task Force.

Guthrie will co-lead the House Republican health care task force with Congressman Devin Nunes (CA-22), who serves as Republican Leader of the Ways and Means Committee's Health Subcommittee.

"It's an honor to be selected to co-lead the Healthy Future Task Force by House Republican Leader McCarthy," said Guthrie. "I bring different perspectives on health care policy to this task force from my experience as an employer, a state senator working on Medicaid and now as Republican Leader of the Energy and Commerce's Health Subcommittee. I look forward to working alongside my colleague Representative Nunes in uniting the House Republican Conference and bringing together the best ideas to lower health care costs, improve quality of care and promote innovation."

"Unlike the current House Democrat majority, when Republicans win back the House in 2022 we will show up on day one ready to tangibly improve the lives of Americans throughout the country," said McCarthy. "That's why this week I announced the launch of seven issue-specific task forces and chairs that will lead our efforts on crafting solution-based legislation. Among these, the Healthy Future Task Force will be chaired by Representatives Brett Guthrie and Devin Nunes, and will focus on bringing House Republicans together to formulate an innovative approach to health care that both lowers costs and improves quality. With Brett and Devin leading the way, I am confident that their efforts will improve health care for every American, and help Republicans shape a winning agenda for 2022 and beyond."
