Today, Senator Rob Portman issued the following statement commending the Biden Administration's recognition of the mass killings of Armenians more than 100 years ago as genocide:

"As the large, vibrant and patriotic Armenian community in Ohio will tell you, we must never forget the atrocities of the Armenian genocide. I commend the Administration for recognizing and acknowledging these mass killings for the genocide they were and hope the problems and tragedies of the past will enable us to further assert global leadership by reminding the world that we must stand strong and resist any and all persecution of minority populations."
