Rosen Statement in Response to President Biden's Address to Joint Session of Congress

Statement

Date: April 28, 2021
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) released the following statement after attending this evening's address to a joint session of Congress by President Joe Biden:

"Tonight, we heard President Biden share with Congress, and the country what we've been able to during his first 100 days in office," said Senator Rosen. "From providing urgently needed direct payments to the American people to supporting our nation's workers and small businesses, President Biden and this Democratic-led Congress have been able to make good on our promise of real relief for the American people during this moment of crisis."

"President Biden also put forth an ambitious plan for strengthening our efforts to beat COVID-19 and reopen the country safely, as well as bold ideas for how we can move our country forward and build America up better than it was even before the pandemic," Senator Rosen continued. "I look forward to joining with my colleagues in Congress and the Biden Administration as we continue working to deliver for the American people."

BACKGROUND: Yesterday, Senator Rosen announced that she had invited Magnolia Magat, a Nevada AAPI small business owner to be Senator Rosen's virtual guest for the address.

Earlier this month, Rosen toured Ms. Magat's small business, Truffles N Bacon Café, and discussed her recently secured second Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loan that helped keep her small business afloat. This PPP loan was secured as a direct result of the PPP Extension Act of 2021, which Senator Rosen championed in the Senate.
