New Dem Chair DelBene Welcomes Biden's Families Plan, Pledges to Make Child Benefit Permanent

Today, Congresswoman Suzan DelBene (WA-01), Chair of the New Democrat Coalition, released the below statement following President Biden's address to a joint session of Congress.

"When families prosper, the nation succeeds. I welcome President Biden's American Families Plan as a bold framework for how we can invest in better education, health care, and futures for all Americans and recover more quickly from the devastation of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"The New Democrat Coalition is ready to work with congressional leaders and the White House to turn these ideas into law and show Americans that governance can still work. We need to build on the Affordable Care Act to achieve universal coverage and access to affordable, quality care.

"I'm also committed to completing the work we started with the American Rescue Plan by making the Child Tax Credit permanent. Doing so would help us rebuild the middle class for the long term and give millions of children a fair chance at success. We cannot let this historic opportunity slip by unfinished."
