Wyden Statement on Trump Administration Approval of Tennessee Medicaid Waiver

Senate Finance Committee Ranking Member Ron Wyden, D-Ore., today issued a statement after the Trump administration approved a Medicaid waiver in Tennessee that would allow the state to make harmful changes to their program:

"Block grant waivers that slash Medicaid funding to states, gut health care and jeopardize benefits like Medicaid nursing home care that is the last line of defense for seniors are illegal," Wyden said. "Republicans have tried and tried to force health care cuts on low-income working families for the past four years, but Americans know that Medicaid is a health care lifeline that must be protected. I look forward to strengthening Medicaid in the coming months and years rather than fighting off half-baked and destructive policies driven by ideology instead of facts."
