Date: April 19, 2021
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Representative Charlie Crist (D-FL) released a statement following his meeting at the White House with President Joe Biden and a bipartisan group of lawmakers to discuss the President's American Jobs Plan. During the meeting, Rep. Crist focused on the need for climate resilient infrastructure, including restoring the Everglades and investing in renewable energy like solar.

"I was honored to be invited to meet today with President Biden and discuss the need to invest in our country's infrastructure. As former Governor of Florida, I know firsthand just how far federal dollars can go in improving not only our roads and bridges, but also our quality of life and future.

"I was pleased to discuss the impacts of the climate crisis on Florida and the need to invest in infrastructure that can help us better prepare for and withstand those impacts. President Biden gets it on the need to go big on restoring Florida's treasured Everglades, which provides clean drinking water to eight million Floridians, and he shares Floridians' commitment to fighting climate change and investing in renewable energy like solar. The sun is such a valuable resource in the "Sunshine State' -- why wouldn't we take full advantage? I look forward to working alongside the White House and my colleagues to get this done!"
