On Friday, April 16, 2021, Congressman Al Green released the following statement in support of H.R. 1195, the Workplace Violence Prevention for Health Care and Social Service Workers Act:

"Health care and social service workers -- who experience workplace violence at alarming rates -- have reported an uptick in workplace violence during the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic. As these frontline workers fight to defeat coronavirus, they not only cope with extreme bouts of burnout and work to preserve their own health as well as the health of their loved ones; they risk their lives and safety with each shift as they face an increased likelihood of workplace violence," stated Congressman Al Green. "H.R. 1195 requires the Department of Labor to address this phenomenon and implement a comprehensive workplace violence prevention plan which would include de-escalation techniques, personal alarm devices, as well as surveillance and monitoring."

Congressman Green concluded, "I stand with health care and social service workers who risk their lives daily to save ours and I urge the passage of H.R. 1195. These professionals work to protect us. It's our chance to protect them."
