Palazzo Fights For Life by Signing Discharge Petition

Statement

Date: April 14, 2021
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Abortion

Congressman Steven Palazzo (MS-4) today released the following statement after signing a discharge petition to demand a vote on HR 619, the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act.

"Today, I am proud to sign this discharge petition to fight for life. Democrats continue to promote infanticide and deny basic human rights to the most defenseless in our society. Saving innocent lives should not be a partisan debate. Newborns who survive horrific abortions deserve an equal chance at life. It is up to us to speak for those without a voice, and that is what this discharge petition allows us to do."

At Nancy Pelosi's direction, the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act has been blocked more than 80 times.

This legislation requires hospital care for children born alive during or after a failed abortion procedure and penalizes the intentional killing of babies who survive abortions with jail time. This bill alters the penal code to protect newborns from being considered medical waste and offers an equal chance at life.

A discharge petition in the House, if signed by a simple majority of 218 members of the House, would move the bill directly to the House floor for a vote.

Palazzo is one of 196 cosponsors of the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act.
