Padilla Statement on Biden's First Joint Session Address to Congress

Statement

Date: April 29, 2021
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Senator Alex Padilla (D-Calif.), issued this statement after President Biden delivered his inaugural address to a joint session of Congress:

"What a difference a President and a Democratic Majority makes. In the first 100 days, we have delivered COVID relief to Californians and the American people with shots in arms, money in pockets, and sweeping anti-poverty initiatives, including an expansion of the Child Tax Credit. As we rebuild from the pandemic, we must aim higher than a return to normal. The status quo wasn't working for millions of Americans -- especially Black and Brown communities like the one I grew up in Pacoima. This moment calls for bold action to deliver on behalf of all American families."
