Cicilline Bill to Lower Gas Prices Passes Judiciary Committee

Press Release

Date: April 21, 2021
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Congressman David N. Cicilline (RI-01), who introduced the bipartisan No Oil Producing and Exporting Cartels (NOPEC) Act (H.R.2393) earlier this year along with Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler (NY-10) and Republican Congressman Steve Chabot (OH-01), issued the following statement after the House Judiciary Committee voted to send his bill to the House floor:

"Over the past few years, foreign oil-producing countries have colluded to artificially manipulate fuel prices. This means working Americans end up paying more to fill up their car or heat their homes. That's why the bill we passed today is so important. The NOPEC Act gives the Department of Justice new powers to fight foreign oil cartels. I look forward to continuing to work with colleagues on both sides of the aisle to get this bill signed into law."
