Statement on Efforts of The U.T. Regents to Improve Graduation Rates

Gov. Rick Perry today issued the following statement recognizing efforts of The University of Texas System Board of Regents to improve graduation rates:

"Today the University of Texas Board of Regents passed a resolution directing all institutional presidents to set policies to increase graduation rates. This important step will provide greater accountability to the Board, as well as to students and families who are investing in the future of Texas by pursuing a higher education degree.

"I applaud the board on its decision and I urge other university systems take similar steps to improve graduation rates and reduce the time it takes for students to complete their degrees."
