Joyce Statement on Dems' Court-Packing Ploy

Statement

Date: April 15, 2021
Location: Washington, DC

Congressman John Joyce (PA-13) released the following statement on Democrats' attempts to expand the U.S. Supreme Court by four seats, creating a 13-justice Supreme Court, through the Judiciary Act of 2021.

"Liberals in Washington, DC are attempting to pack our nation's highest court for the sole purpose of political gain. Court-packing is a dangerous and radical proposal that would further politicize the U.S. Supreme Court and undermine trust in the entire judicial system. The American people are counting on Congress to reject this blatant power grab and protect the integrity of the Supreme Court. As a strong defender of the U.S. Constitution, I fully condemn Democrats' court-packing ploy and will carry forward the fight to keep nine justices on the court."

Dr. Joyce today co-sponsored H.J.Res. 11, which would propose an amendment to the Constitution of the United States to require that the U.S. Supreme Court be composed of nine justices.
