Issues: Guns

Today, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) and Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, and Homeland Security Chairwoman Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) issued the following statement after President Biden announced several executive actions to address gun violence:

"We applaud the President for today's announcement of administrative actions to curb gun violence. While we in Congress work to pass legislation to make all of our communities safer, it is critical and welcome that the Executive Branch do its part to ensure that enforcement of current laws keep pace with evolving threats from firearms, such as the proliferation of so-called ghost guns. We pledge that we will continue to do our part to strengthen our gun laws. Americans have demanded action and we are answering the call.

"We are also pleased with the President's choice of David Chipman to be the next Director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. Chipman has the experience and vision necessary to lead that agency's efforts at this time of critical need."
