Neal Statement on Shooting in Colorado

Statement

Date: March 23, 2021
Location: Springfield, MA

Following news of the horrific shooting at the King Scoopers grocery store in Boulder, Colorado that killed ten people, Congressman Richard E. Neal released the following statement.

"I am once again saddened, distressed, and frustrated by the news of yesterday's shooting in Boulder, Colorado. My heart and the hearts of the American family are with the loved ones of those who were killed, the innocent shoppers and workers, and our first responders.

"In Congress, we continue to push for more extensive gun control measures so that more innocent lives are not inexplicably taken away. Just this month, the House of Representatives passed H.R. 8, the Bipartisan Background Checks Act and H.R. 1446, the Enhanced Background Checks Act. These are commonsense proposals that the Senate must take up and vote on immediately. We need real legislative change. And we need it now.

"I will continue to work with my colleagues to enact even more legislation aimed at ensuring that guns do not get in the hands of those who should not possess them. I stand with all those mourning when I say, 'Enough is enough.'"
