Cortez Masto Announces $155 Million in Funding to Support Public Transportation, Help Nevadans Get to Vaccine Sites

Today, U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) announced that $155,465,085 that she helped secure as part of the American Rescue Plan will be delivered to Nevada to support the state's public transportation systems as the state continues to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. Cortez Masto has consistently led efforts in the Senate calling for robust investments to help Nevada's public transportation systems during the pandemic, which will now bolster public transit while helping ensure Nevadans can get to and from vaccination clinics.

"Many of Nevada's essential workers and hardworking families rely on public transportation to get to work and to access vital health care services, including vaccination appointments. With this funding, Nevada's state, local, and tribal governments will be able to support transit services, keep employees on the payroll, and upgrade safety measures to protect both riders and workers. Getting Nevadans vaccinated and our economy back on track will require safe, efficient public transportation, and I'll continue to support the Silver State's transportation needs in Congress."

The American Rescue Plan includes historic investments in public transportation, including funding for urban and rural areas, tribal governments, and for the enhanced mobility of seniors and individuals with disabilities. It also includes funding to help communities that demonstrate additional pandemic-associated needs.
