Hinson Co-Sponsored Bill To Extend PPP Loans For Iowa Small Businesses Passes House

Statement

Congresswoman Hinson is a co-sponsor of the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) Extension Act of 2021, which extends the PPP deadline by two months and provides the Small Business Administration (SBA) an additional 30 days to fully process loan applications received before the new May 31st deadline. Congresswoman Hinson released the following statement after this bipartisan legislation passed the House tonight.
"I have heard from many small businesses in my district who have been able to keep their doors open and workers employed because of the PPP program. This extension will give more small businesses in Iowa the ability to access this lifeline and provide certainty during these tough times. I was proud to co-sponsor this common-sense legislation that will help Iowans continue to persevere through this pandemic and am glad we could work in a bipartisan way to do so." -Congresswoman Ashley Hinson

"Our small, family-owned business has done everything it can to survive and get by during the pandemic. The theatre industry, especially small theatres like ours, have been hurt badly. The first round of PPP loans was extraordinarily helpful, but we need an additional line of income to help us continue our operations. The PPP Extension Act is critical so that we know we will receive a loan in time to keep operating and keep our employees on the payroll. Rep. Hinson's outreach and leadership on this legislation means a lot, and I applaud her support of small businesses in her district." -Russell Vannorsdel of RL Fridley Theatres in Marshalltown, IA
