Menendez Statement on American Jobs Plan

U.S. Senator Bob Menendez (D-N.J.) released the following statement on President Biden's American Jobs Plan, which includes funding to complete the Gateway Project:

"President Biden today outlined a bold, generational infrastructure plan that will create millions of good-paying jobs, repair our aging roads, rails and bridges, modernize our water systems, expand broadband internet access to every corner of the country, invest in new, green technologies, and secure our nation's economic competitiveness for decades to come. These smart investments will drive our economic recovery from the pandemic, connect more people and places, spur development in underserved communities, spark innovation, and lead to greater prosperity for all Americans.
"I'm pleased President Biden's commitment to modernizing the Northeast Corridor and bringing our transit systems into a state of good repair will allow us to move the Hudson River rail tunnels forward with strong federal support. Gateway is a project of national significance for a region of the country that generates one-fifth of the entire U.S. economy and must be completed without further delay. It will provide New Jersey commuters with safer and more reliable service and is the type of smart infrastructure investment that will pay for itself several times over in economic growth."
