Harder Backs New Unemployment Tax Relief Plan Set to Save Central Valley Families More than $1,000

Today, Congressman Josh Harder (CA-10) backed a new amendment in the COVID-19 relief package currently moving through Congress as a huge win for Valley families. Under this new amendment, anyone who has received unemployment benefits will not be taxed for the first $10,200 of the money they received in 2020. This could save unemployed individuals more than $1,000 in federal taxes.

"When a friend calls and says he needs some help, you don't show up at his house the very next day and ask for 10% of that help back. The government shouldn't either," said Rep. Harder. "This amendment would put more than $1,000 back into the pockets of Valley families, and I'll do everything I can to make sure it becomes law."
