Rep. Wild Votes to Protect Workers and Workers' Rights

Press Release

U.S. Representative Susan Wild (PA-07) voted to pass the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act, the most significant upgrade for workers' collective bargaining rights in more than 80 years. This landmark legislation protects workers' rights to organize a union and collectively bargain for higher wages, better benefits, and safer working conditions

"I am proud to continue the rich tradition of fighting for workers in the Lehigh Valley by working to pass the PRO Act," said Rep. Wild. "Our country and economy are only as strong as our unions, and this legislation is a major step forward in defending collective bargaining rights, worker safety, and the right to organize. At a time when inequality is at an all-time high, and as we work to rebuild the middle class from the pandemic, leveling the playing field for hardworking Pennsylvanians couldn't be more crucial."

The PRO Act would empower millions of American workers to stand together and negotiate for a fair share of their contributions to our economy while also strengthening workers' rights in the workplace.

Specifically, the PRO Act would:

Authorizes meaningful penalties for companies and executives that violate workers' rights.
Strengthen workers' right to strike for basic workplace improvements, including higher wages and better working conditions.
Closes loopholes that corporations use to erode workers' rights.
Prevents employers from interfering in union elections.
Rep. Wild spoke on the floor during debate in support of the PRO Act. Rep. Wild has been instrumental in fighting for workers throughout her time in Congress, including advocating for fair trade policies that support and lift all workers and a $15 an-hour minimum wage. She is a member of the Education and Labor Committee and the Subcommittee on Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions.
