Duckworth Meets with Under Secretary of Defense for Policy Nominee

Combat Veteran and U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL), who served in the Reserve Forces for 23 years and is Chair of the U.S. Senate Armed Services (SASC) Airland Subcommittee, virtually met with today with Colin Kahl, President Biden's nominee to be the Under Secretary of Defense for Policy at the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD). Duckworth and Kahl discussed many important issues facing the Department, such as prioritizing the Indo-Pacific region and improving diversity and inclusion at DOD.

"Colin Kahl is a uniquely qualified nominee with a steadfast commitment to our national security interests that has prepared him well for this important role," Duckworth said. "I'm glad I had the chance to discuss many important issues he will be working at DOD, such as restoring relationships with key allies and partners in the Indo-Pacific region and ensuring people of color and women have the necessary support and resources to contribute to DOD's mission and succeed professionally.
