Hagedorn Statement on Democrats' Radical Gun Control Proposals

Congressman Jim Hagedorn (MN-01) today issued the following statement regarding President Biden, Speaker Pelosi and congressional Democrats' radical proposals to dismantle the Second Amendment and deny law-abiding Americans the right to own firearms:

"Earlier this month, Speaker Pelosi put two bills on the House Floor to impose "feel good' measures and satisfy anti-gun progressives. In reality, Pelosi's legislation would make Americans less safe, violate our rights to keep and bear arms, and set us on a path to establish a federal gun registry.

"President Biden is now calling for a ban on classes of firearms and other measures to pave the way for federal gun confiscation. Biden's radical gun control plan would punish Americans who lawfully purchase and possess firearms and do absolutely nothing to prevent criminals from perpetuating crimes with guns.

"Residents of Minnesota's First District can count on me to fulfill my promise to defend the Second Amendment and support legislation that protects the right of citizens to own, possess and use firearms for self-protection and other lawful purposes. I will never be intimidated by the radical interest groups and Democrat politicians whose overzealous goal is to deny citizens of our God-given constitutional rights."
