Sarbanes, Baltimore Delegation Announce More Than $18 Million to Provide Essential Goods and Services to Seniors Amid the COVID-19 Pandemic

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Congressman John Sarbanes (D-Md.) today joined the Baltimore Congressional Delegation in announcing $18,395,149.50 in emergency federal funding to deliver essential goods, services and resources to seniors across the city amid the ongoing COVID-19 public health crisis.

"This new federal funding will help the Salvation Army and Meals-On-Wheels provide Baltimore seniors with critical goods and services -- including groceries, household essentials, clothing and other necessities," the lawmakers said. "Team Maryland will continue to deliver important resources that help improve the quality of life for seniors across our state and keep seniors safe and healthy as we work to control the pandemic."

The emergency funding comes from the Federal Emergency Management Agency. It includes:

$12,338,798.50 for the Salvation Army

$6,056,351.00 for Meals-On-Wheels

The lawmakers previously announced more than $219.5 million in federal funding to expand COVID-19 vaccination efforts across the state and protect Maryland seniors from the virus.
