Sarbanes, Baltimore Congressional Delegation Announce More Than $420,000 for Critical COVID-19 Research at the University of Maryland, Baltimore

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Congressman John Sarbanes (D-Md.) today joined the Baltimore Congressional Delegation in announcing $424,875 in federal funding for the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) to research the lasting effects of COVID-19 on the brain.

"There's much we don't know about the long-term effects of COVID-19. With this new round of federal funding, University of Maryland, Baltimore researchers will be able to better understand the impacts of the virus on individuals and communities," the lawmakers said. "By investing in Maryland scientists and research institutions, we can enhance our knowledge of the virus, save lives and improve health outcomes."

Funding comes from the Department of Health and Human Services and will support UMB's clinical studies on the lasting neurological effects of COVID-19.
