Owens Statement on Budget Reconciliation Bill

Statement

Date: March 10, 2021
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Rep. Burgess Owens (UT-04) released the following statement in opposition to the Budget Reconciliation Bill.

"Simply put, this is not a pandemic relief bill, and it's sad to see Congressional Democrats trying to convince their constituents otherwise. Nancy Pelosi's $1.9 trillion wish list allocates less than 10% for COVID-19 health care relief, only 1% for vaccine distribution, and ignores $1 trillion in unspent funds from the previous bipartisan packages. I voted no on this wasteful and irresponsible piece of legislation."

Rather than helping Utahns who are suffering through COVID-19, Democrats opted to fund:

$86 billion in union pension bailouts
$35 billion ObamaCare bailout
$1.5 billion Amtrak bailout
$1 billion in foreign aid
$50 million for environmental justice grants
