Rep. Ron Kind Votes to Send the American Rescue Plan to President's Desk

Today, Rep. Ron Kind voted to pass the American Rescue Plan to provide long-awaited relief to Wisconsinites, help schools safely reopen, ramp up vaccine deployment, and get our economy back on track. The package now heads to the President's desk for his signature.

"COVID-19 has caused an economic and public health emergency like we've never seen before, and we must meet this moment. Wisconsinites are in agreement: we need the American Rescue Plan," said Rep. Ron Kind. "This final package will provide relief to families, expand vaccines and testing, help our schools reopen safely, and get our economy firing on all cylinders again. I'm proud to vote for the American Rescue Plan and send it to the President's desk for his signature."

Rep. Kind's legislation to help ensure nursing homes have the support they need to prevent the spread of COVID-19 was also passed as part of this package. The American Rescue Plan will provide Wisconsin with $3.2 billion to help combat COVID-19:

$3.92 million to Adams County
$2.53 million to Buffalo County
$12.54 million to Chippewa County
$3.13 million to Crawford County
$8.8 million to Dunn County
$20.3 million to Eau Claire County
$9.98 million to Grant County
$4.0 million to Jackson County
$5.18 million to Juneau County
$22.89 million to La Crosse County
$8.97 million to Monroe County
$1.41 million to Pepin County
$8.29 million to Pierce County
$13.73 million to Portage County
$3.35 million to Richland County
$5.75 million to Trempealeau County
$5.98 million to Vernon County
$14.16 million to Wood County
In addition, this package includes provisions to:

Deliver $1,400 stimulus payments to individuals and dependents, bringing total relief to $2,000 per person
Fund a national vaccine program
Provide $17o billion to schools to help them safely reopen
Extend federal unemployment benefits through September 6, 2021 and increase the weekly benefit to $300
Exempts first $10,200, per individual, in supplemental unemployment benefits from taxation for taxpayers with income under $150,000, for 2020 only
Increase the Child Tax Credit to $3,600 per year for children under 6 and $3,000 per year for children between 6 and 17
Stabilize the pensions for more than one million Americans who participate in multiemployer plans
Increase the Earned Income Tax Credit
Reduce health care premiums by increasing the Affordable Care Act's premium tax credits for two years
Create a new $8.5 billion fund to help rural health care providers cover additional expenses and lost revenue due to COVID-19
Help families access high-quality child care by expanding the Child and Dependent Tax Credit to allow families to claim up to half their child care expenses
