Congressman Colin Allred (TX-32) today voted for H.R. 1, the For The People Act. Allred is a cosponsor of this bill that would establish automatic and same-day voter registration, end partisan gerrymandering, stop voter purges, and restrict voter ID laws. He introduced the Shell Company Abuse Act and the Know Your Polling Place Act which were included in the legislation that passed the House.

"As a voting rights attorney, I've seen firsthand the damage barriers to voting do, which is why I was proud to vote for and cosponsor the For the People Act to affirmatively expand access to voting," said Allred. "I'm glad it passed the House with two bills I introduced, the Know Your Polling Place Act and the Shell Company Abuse Act, included. This bill would make our democracy more accessible, more secure, and more focused on serving the American people."

Allred spoke in support of the bill on the House floor this morning.

Allred Provisions Included in H.R. 1:

The Shell Company Abuse Act, which would make it a felony to use or create an American shell company to conceal illegal political spending by foreign nationals.

The Know Your Polling Place Act, which would require states to notify voters of changes in their polling place at least one week before a federal election and ensure accommodations are made for voters that show up at their previous polling place.
