Today, Congresswoman Cheri Bustos (IL-17) urged Illinoisans to review their health insurance options during the health exchange's special open enrollment period. Open enrollment will last until May 15th in accordance with President Joe Biden's Executive Order to open the marketplace for Americans during the COVID-19 public health crisis.

Last Congress, Congresswoman Bustos introduced and fought for legislation that would have provided a special enrollment period through the Affordable Care Act to allow individuals who are uninsured to enroll in coverage.

"Right now, no one should hesitate to seek the care they need, and we must work to remove any barriers to accessible care," Congresswoman Bustos said. "As we continue to navigate this public health crisis, I applaud President Biden's decision to create a special open enrollment period and increase access to affordable health care coverage. I urge Illinoisans to review their health care options to see what plan works best for their family."
