Rep. Johnson Aces League of Conservation 2020 National Environmental Report Card

Congressman Hank Johnson (GA-04) announced today he earned a 100 percent from The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) on their 2020 National Environmental Scorecard, which tallies the performance of every member of Congress every year on key environmental votes.

Rep. Johnson's lifetime LCV score is 96 percent, the highest in the Georgia delegation. Congressman Johnson, a member of the Safe Climate Caucus, is regularly honored for his environmental voting record and advocacy on part of the National Park System and clean energy.

"History isn't going to be kind to climate change deniers and leaders, who when confronted with facts and science, chose to bury their heads in the sand and continue the con of advocating for burning more fossil fuels," said Johnson, who is considered an "Environment Champion" in Georgia.

"The LCV provides an invaluable service to inform the public where public officials stand on the environment and the climate crisis, which is not something in the future but is upon us. I'm proud to have stood up for the environment against the Trump administration's relentless assault on our air, water, lands and wildlife -- all to benefit its corporate polluter allies. I look forward to working with the Biden Administration to conserve and preserve the environment, grow renewables and help protect the planet for future generations."

The average House score was 59 percent and the average Senate score was 46 precent.
