Matsui Announces Committee Assignments for the 117th Congress

Today, Congresswoman Doris Matsui (D-CA) announced her Subcommittee assignments for the 117th Congress. The Congresswoman continues to represent Sacramento on the influential House Committee on Energy & Commerce, which she was first appointed to in 2008. The Congresswoman will continue her work on the Subcommittees on Health and Communications & Technology and will join the Subcommittee on Energy.

"As we begin the 117th Congress, our nation faces critical issues that will have consequences that resonate far into the future," said Congresswoman Matsui. "As we tackle our recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, we must take action and push legislation that ensures the health of all Americans, reinforces our economy, and creates well-paying jobs through innovation. These Subcommittee assignments are a platform to address these important issues and continue to advocate for the priorities of the Sacramento region."

On the Subcommittee on Health, Congresswoman Matsui has worked tirelessly to improve access to high-quality health care and was instrumental in crafting the Affordable Care Act. She is a leader in Congress on the rapidly growing field of telehealth and has authored bipartisan legislation to revitalize and expand our nation's community-based mental health system. She will continue to fight to lower the cost of health care and prescription medicines, while working to expand and enhance critical health programs including Medicare, Medicaid and the ACA.

On the Subcommittee on Communications & Technology, Congresswoman Matsui has worked to push our technology policy forward to meet the needs of the 21st Century economy, including launching and serving as a Co-Chair of the Congressional High Tech Caucus and Co-chair of the Congressional Spectrum Caucus. She will continue to advocate for the deployment of technologies and broadband infrastructure that ensure Americans have access to critical resources that help them communicate in their everyday lives, participate in classrooms remotely, and get ahead at work.

As she joins the Subcommittee on Energy, Congresswoman Matsui will continue to build on her work as a leader addressing the climate crisis and pushing for sustainable energy solutions. She will continue to serve as Co-chair of the Sustainable Energy and Environment Coalition (SEEC), which has been a leader in the efforts to advance clean energy tax policies. She will also continue advocating for green energy efficiency solutions, the electrification of our transportation system, investments through clean energy bonds, and nuclear waste management efforts.
