Statement

Date: Feb. 3, 2021
Location: Washington, DC

Today, United States Capitol Police Officer Brian D. Sicknick lies in honor in the United States Capitol Rotunda. Officer Sicknick died as a result of injuries he sustained while defending those trapped inside the Capitol during the January 6 insurrection.

"Today, I join Americans across the nation to express my grief and appreciation for the sacrifice made by Officer Brian D. Sicknick," said Congressman Steven Horsford. "After serving his nation for six years in the New Jersey Air National Guard, Officer Sicknick joined the U.S. Capitol Police, where he served with honor for twelve years. During the assault on the Capitol, he fought valiantly to protect Congress and save lives. My prayers go out to his family, and I hope that it will bring them some comfort to see him buried as a hero in Arlington National Cemetery."
