Luján Statement Recognizing Black History Month

Statement

Date: Feb. 2, 2021
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Senator Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.) issued the following statement in recognition of Black History Month:

"As America marks the start of Black History Month, we celebrate the countless contributions of African Americans to this nation, and pay tribute to the heroes, past and present, who fought valiantly and persevered to bend the arc of the moral universe toward justice. While progress has been made, there is still more work to do to root out systemic racism and inequity. This month and every month, Black history is American history, and we are honored to lift up the voices of those who dare to imagine a more just and equitable future for all."
