Scalise Applauds Approval of Louisiana's Federal Emergency Declaration

House Republican Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) released the following statement after the White House approved the State of Louisiana's request for a federal emergency declaration for this week's severe winter weather event:

"I'm thankful Louisiana's emergency declaration request for this week's extreme winter weather has been approved. From hurricanes to the COVID-19 pandemic, our state has faced no shortage of disasters this year. This emergency declaration will unlock the tools and support we need to help families across our state recover.

"I will continue working closely with my colleagues in Louisiana's Congressional delegation, as well as federal, state and local authorities, to ensure our communities have the resources they need."

Whip Scalise joined the Louisiana Congressional delegation today in sending a letter to the White House in support of Louisiana's request for a federal emergency declaration due to the ongoing winter weather event.
