Representative Rosendale Named Ranking Member for Veterans' Affairs Subcommittee on Technology Modernization

Today, The House Committee on Veterans' Affairs named Representative Rosendale as the ranking member for the Subcommittee on Technology Modernization.

"America's veterans put their lives on the line to protect our freedoms and they deserve the absolute best care we can provide them," said Representative Rosendale. "As ranking member for the Technology Modernization Subcommittee, I am excited to help update the delivery of veterans' health care -- whether that be through electronic record modernization or increasing telehealth benefits. There's so much work to get done."

In this position, Representative Rosendale will work to lead efforts to make life easier for veterans. As use of electronic medical records have grown so have problems related to them including transferring of data from the Department of Defense for new veterans as well as their security. As Auditor, Rosendale was critical in expanding telehealth options to all Montanans, and now it is time to bring this option to veterans so they can receive care, even if they are not near a VA Facility.

The Ranking Member of House Veterans Affairs, Mike Bost, released the following statement regarding Representative Rosendales's appointment:

"I am excited that Rep. Rosendale will serve as the lead Republican for the Subcommittee on Technology Modernization this Congress. Matt knows firsthand how critical modern, streamlined technology programs and services are for veterans. He also knows how hard it can be to get them right. That is especially true in rural and remote areas like Montana. I know he has what it takes to stay on top of VA's ongoing electronic health record modernization project and I'm looking forward to working with him," said Ranking Member Bost.

Additional Subcommittee Information

The Subcommittee on Technology Modernization has oversight and investigative jurisdiction over the Department of Veterans Affairs' major IT projects and technology modernization programs, such as the Electronic Health Record (EHR) modernization program and the Financial Management Business Transformation (FMBT). The Subcommittee also oversees cybersecurity, data privacy and management, and technology innovation at VA.
