Rep. Ted Budd (NC-13) released the following statement on the House's impeachment vote today:

"First, I want to make clear again that the mob violence that took place at the Capitol on January 6th was unacceptable and wrong. Anyone who participated in the incident, no matter their political affiliation, who broke laws, destroyed or stole federal property, or harmed Capitol officials and police officers should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. I support a full investigation into the events that took place that day.

"Unfortunately, at a moment that calls for calm and peace, House Democrats are again ratcheting up the political volume through an impeachment with just one week left in the president's term. A move like this will do nothing other than further inflame tensions and divide our country. If President-elect Biden and Democrats are serious about national unity, then they should end these political tactics and focus on the needs of the American people."
