On Monday, December 28, 2020, Congressman Al Green released the following statement after the passage of H.R. 9051:

"Tonight's vote will mark where we stood when the American people needed the government to act. After nine months of an economic and health crisis that has gripped the nation, leaving many jobless, threatening homelessness and exposure to this deadly coronavirus, House Democrats and Republicans voted to put money in the pockets of Americans at a time when they desperately need it," Congressman Al Green stated. "By voting to increase direct stimulus payments to $2,000, we do more than stimulate the economy; we do the essential task of our government by helping those suffering from a pandemic-induced economic crisis survive."

Congressman Green added, "The President has indicated that he will sign H.R. 9051, Caring for Americans with Supplemental Help Act of 2020, into law. The only question left to be answered is will the Senate give hardworking Americans the same kind of help given to the very wealthy by way of tax breaks, or will the Senate conclude that the wealthy need more to do more and that workers in need can do more with less?"
