Foster Statement on Receiving COVID-19 Vaccine

Statement

Date: Dec. 20, 2020
Location: Washington, DC

Today, Congressman Bill Foster (D-IL) issued the following statement about receiving the first dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 Vaccine:

"At the direction of the Attending Physician, I received a COVID-19 vaccination. I have confidence in its safety and efficacy, and I trust the scientists and researchers who have been working around the clock since the beginning of this pandemic to develop, test, and approve a vaccine. Thanks to their efforts, combined with decades of sustained federal investment in medical and scientific research, we have a weapon to defeat this virus.

"I am pleased to see that elected officials of both parties are stepping forward to get vaccinated. It is essential that our government maintains its ability to function. That is especially important as we prepare to convene a new Congress and transition to a new Administration.

"Even with a vaccine, I will continue to wear a mask, practice social distancing, and follow the science and advice of health officials to slow the spread of the virus as much as possible while vaccines are deployed throughout the country.

"I urge all Americans to get vaccinated as soon as it's available to them."
