Today, U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand issued the statement below in response to President Biden's executive actions to rebuild and strengthen our immigration system:

"Undoing Trump's chaotic, harmful and divisive immigration agenda requires us to reimagine a system that is both fair and transparent, while upholding the dignity of immigrants and asylum seekers looking to build better lives. President Biden's actions today lay the groundwork for us to do just that. I look forward to working with my colleagues in Congress to put forward long-term safeguards in place for children to make sure that there is lasting oversight, and that all of our children -- no matter when or how they got here -- are protected and benefit from a fair, just, and transparent process while in government custody."
